« RATTAN, ANOTHER WOOD »
Scénographie d’exposition
Montage d’une scénographie visant à faire connaître les possibilités techniques du rotin contre-plaqué, son caractère innovant et ses bénéfices comme matériau alternatif au bois. L’exposition présente le rotin en trois temps : elle détaille d’abord ses caractéristiques (pousse, processus de transformation). Des photographies et une vidéo témoignent du contexte de travail de ce matériau dans un atelier. Au centre, sur un podium et en suspension, les spectateurs peuvent voir et toucher des échantillons et des prototypes. Installés face-à-face dans l’espace, ces trois temps se complètent pour comprendre le matériau. Les spectateur·rices sont invité·es à circuler dans l’espace d’exposition resté ouvert car situé dans un large couloir faisant office de lieu de passage. Il reste néanmoins identifiable par la couleur et les structures de rotin qui délimitent l’espace.
Design and build up of an exhibition aimed at communicating the technical possibilities of Rattan plywood, its innovative character and ecological benefits as an alternative of using wood. The exhibition is divided in three parts : first, some panels explain the characteristics of the material (growth, benefits, transformation process). On the opposite wall, some photographs and a video show the context of the material’s growth, its harvest and work in an Indonesian workshop. Finally, in the center of the space, people can see and touch rattan samples and objects. These three parts setted face-to-face in the space, work together to have a complete and good understanding of rattan plywood. People walk freely in the exhibition, which remains open since it is setted in a big corridor. However, the exhibition space stays recognizable by red colour and rattan structures which mark out the space.
